PATAAREE – A BOX OF TRADITIONS
With the wedding season around the corner and each wedding having its own quirky, splendid theme, the hunt for traditional yet offbeat products has become an important part of the shopping spree. Something similar sent me on that very path, having me visit PATAAREE – a unique concept that imbibes traditional handicrafts with contemporary tweaks, where creativity transcends all boundaries.
10 Second Takeaway…
Reviving certain vintage concepts, be it a chest to safe keep one’s most prized possession, the wedding lehnga or exhuberent and personalised suitcases, Pataaree does just about everything, to add a touch of resplendence to your wedding.
What’s On Offer
Launched by Shagun Bawa in 2017 as a reflection of her personality: bright, cheerful and heartwarming, Pataaree translates the dreams of every bride into unique customised products. Each piece reflects the continuation of age old practices connected with wedding rituals. The inventory ranges from trousseau luggage, vanity cases, jewellery boxes, mehendi favors such as personalized lipstick cases, to the traditional pataaree and other knick knacks.
Statement pieces such as Satrangi tote bag, phulkari skirt and a long kutch work jacket, all complementing the ‘Daaj’ and ‘Wari’, also grace the Pataaree repertoire. But the one item that seems to have enchanted everyone is the “Kala Chashmah” cover, wrapped in rich fabric and embellished with zari lacework. Each Pataaree piece is a harmonious weave of luxurious fabrics such as brocade and velvet with zari motifs decorations, to provide best quality to the customers.
After working for 8 years in the world of marketing and technology in London, Shagun gave in to her creative streak, to conceptualize and craft pieces that translate her imagination into unique products. “Each of my product has a personality, with a name and story of its own. I consciously do not mass produce any item. Instead I help the bride to visualise and match the items as per the wedding theme. I ensure that each bride gets something different and exclusive for her wedding. Each idea is discussed and a would-be bride is taken through a gamut of various fashion trends,” shares Bawa.
With five innovative segments – Gulnaar, Suhi, Amber, Satrangi and Bandhini – already in work, Shagun is all set to spread her wings even wider and endeavour to fulfill each customer’s wedding dreams.
