ART FOR THE SOUL.

Living upto this is Ludhiana based Artist Kulwant Seehra, who paints not just with her hands but also her soul. Needless to say, her captivating art is a treat both for the eyes as well as the soul. Coming from the Ramgarhia community, which is famous for its hand skills, art and creativity run in Kulwant’s very DNA. This inherent gift and inclination was piqued further by the influence of two ladies in Kulwant’s life, who, Kulwant shares, are her inspiration; her mom and art teacher in school. Kulwant dabbled in art from a very early age, and this childhood hobby perfectly morphed into a passion. She did Masters in Fine Arts from Khalsa College, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, and infact topped in practical subjects of Fine Arts and was also selected for college color in landscape.
Kulwant is comfortable with almost all mediums and techniques of painting, be it water colors, oil or fabric painting.

Given her artistic expression, she has captured the most visceral subjects and has giving her paintings soul stirring names such as ‘The Last Face of Life’, ‘This Too Shall Pass’ etc.”I love realistic work and while I love to paint nature, it’s things that have lost their value in the fast evolving technical world and our children may never get a chance to see, like post box, hand pumps etc. that fascinate me and are reflected in my art”, says Kulwant. She uses different techniques in fabric painting too. Free hand fabric work with water color effects is her forte!

This young artist also deserves a pat on her back for bringing back life into discarded things by reinventing and converting them into something artistic yet useful. Interesting funky bags made out of old jeans, pen holders and brush holders which were once just useless cans or tins waiting to be picked by the raddiwala, she has a knack (and sensibility) to convert trash into artistic treasures. For the decoration too, she puts recycled stuff such as hair clips, waste laces, waste etc. to use. This recycled art and craft, she says, is something very close to her heart and she wants to pass on this passion for art and sensitivity towards the environment to the younger generation.
