BASERA BY THE TIRTHAN

Set on the banks of the Tirthan River, amid the majestic Himalayas, is the latest venture from ‘Citrus County Farm Stays’ – the picturesque resort “BASERA – By the Tirthan”. Located near the quaint village of Sairopa at approximately 5100 feet, it comprises of 5 fully furnished cottages, each offering a spectacular view of fruit laden gardens and the flowing waters of the enigmatic tributary of the Beas.

Start the day with a hot cup of Masala Chai, whilst sitting in the lush green lawns, under the shade of a walnut tree, go on a short walk or simply start the morning idling by the river. The day can be filled with a variety of activities, fishing in the Tirthan for Rainbow or Brown trout, an excursion to one of the many waterfalls in the area, a long walk along the banks of the river, day long treks to the surrounding mountain ranges, or a visit to the local village to get a taste of ‘Pahari’ life.

The resort is a mere 1.5 hours walk from The Great Himalayan National Park, which is a habitat to numerous flora and more than 375 fauna species, including approximately 31 mammals and 181 birds. Expeditions to the same, as well as fishing trips are arranged by the resort on prior notice. The food, served in the cafe, to the sound of the flowing water, is prepared by a team of locals and a professional chef, totally tantalizes your taste buds.

Legend has it that the Tirthan valley is the home of the Devta Shringha Rishi Ji, whose presence is a must for the famous Kullu Mela.
